Selection Criteria for
Jamaica's National
Championships TEAM
SELECTION REQUIREMENTS (for athletes selected to represent Jamaica)

Athletes
must indicate all events for which they wish to be selected on the
Entry Form

Athletes
must be available to attend any scheduled Training Camp
-
Athletes
must adhere to travel arrangements made by the JAAA
-
Athletes
are required to sign a contract with the JAAA containing the Terms &
Conditions of Membership for the National Team
-
Athletes
must submit six (6) recent colour passport size photos
-
Athletes
must have a Jamaican Passport valid for at least six (6) months
TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS (for
athletes selected to represent Jamaica)
All selectees will be provided with
return economy class airline tickets by the most direct route from their
usual place of residence and/or ground transportation to the site of the
competition. These are costed at the best affordable economy fare
available to the Association. Where selectees elect to purchase their
own tickets, refunds will be made on the basis of the cost of a ticket
which could have been purchased by the Association as set out above.
They should therefore seek to book within adequate time and seek to
obtain the best fares available.
TEAM SELECTION CRITERIA
(Athletes will be selected for national teams based on the following
criteria)

Athletes
must return home for the National Championships

Athletes
placing in the 1st to 3rd positions in all events will be selected,
provided that they have attained the qualifying ‘A’ standard for the
competition; the 4th place athlete will be named as an alternate for
the individual event

Athletes
placing in the first six positions in the 100m & 400m will qualify for
the 4 x 100m and the 4 x 400m relays

Once
selected, athletes placing in the first three positions in the 100m &
400m must be prepared to participate in the relays

Final
selection will be made using the allowed final entry date governing
the particular competition

All
athletes must maintain and prove their competitive fitness up to the
time of the final entry date for the competition

Injured
athletes must be examined by our local medical team in order to be
declared unfit not to compete in the National Championships. After
examination, the medical team will recommend how soon the athlete will
be capable of returning to competition

Athletes
with top three world ranking who are ill or injured at the time of the
National Championships may still be considered for selection, but they
must prove their world ranking form prior to the final submission of
the entries for the competition
