Jamaica national triple jump record-holder Trecia Smith continued her impressive early season form when she set another world leading mark at the South American Grand Prix of Fortaleza on Wednesday, May 18.

Smith produced a 14.91 metres effort, her second world leading mark of the week, eclipsing the 14.62 metres she set at the Rio International Association of Athletic Federations (IAAF) grand Prix II on Sunday, May 15.

Her team-mate Suzette Lee finished second with a best effort of 13.89 metres while Romanian Mariana Solomon was third at 13.84 metres. And Jamaica's Pan American games 100 metres champion, Michael Frater once again finished runner-up for the second time this week behind American Joshua Johnson. The former student at Texas Christian University (TCU) was clocked at 10.27 seconds behind Johnson whose winning time was 10.20 seconds.
