JOA announces track & field team for CAC Games

The Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA) on Friday, June 30th, released the names of track & field athletes selected to represent Jamaica at the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games to be held in Cartagena, Columbia.

Jermaine Gonzales and Novlene Williams, both 400m bronze medallists from March's Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia, head the 44-member team for the July 25-29 Games.

400m hurdler Ian Weakley, national 400m champion Ricardo Chambers, CAC Championships hammer throw bronze medallist Natalie Grant, and national 400m hurdles champion Melaine Walker are also included on the team.

The squad also includes marathon runners Areita Martin and Andrew Gutzmore, along with javelin throwers Miekael Downer and Olivia McKoy as well as Shot put throwers Dorian Scott, Nadia Alexander and Zara Northover.

Leford Green and Rose-marie White who represented winning teams Kingston College (KC) and Holmwood at this year's Boys & Girls Athletics Championships, respectively, are the only teenagers on the team.

Women: Nadia Alexander, Karen Beautle, Andre Bliss, Althea Chambers, Nyoka Cole, Jenice Daley, Vonette Dixon, Natalie Grant, Jovanee Jarrett, Andrea Linton, Areita Martin, Olivia McKoy, Anneisha McLaughlin, Zara Nothver, Shevon Stoddart, Melaine Walker, Rose-Marie White, Clora Williams, Novlene Williams and Marcia Woollery.
