Monte-Carlo - Two weeks ago Asafa Powell became the first Jamaican athlete to lead the IAAF Men’s Overall Ranking, now this week his compatriot Veronica Campbell becomes the first Jamaican to lead the Women’s 100m Event Ranking.

Campbell moved up one spot following her victory at the Jamaican Championships in 10.97 seconds (1260 points). The Olympic 200m champion and 100m bronze medallist clocked the second fastest time of the season behind her own leading time of 10.96 set a month ago.

The previous Event leader, the reigning Olympic 100m champion Yuliya Nesterenko of the Belarus, dropped into a tie for second place with Aleen Bailey of Jamaica, after losing 15 points after not repeating her winning performance from the Gateshead Norwich Union GP a year ago.
